Yamba 29/6 luderick frenzy!
Back in Yamba for school holidays. We stayed in Grafton last night and arrived via Lawrence and the Bluff Point Ferry. It's superb coming in that way along the river, and especially on such a magnificent clear winter day. We stopped at Palmer's Island on the way in and grabbed some blackfish weed, black magic and some lovely fresh green weed.
After lunch the boys and I went for a ride along the break wall. I took a rod along just in case, and some gear and weed :) There were half a dozen people fishing the T piece, on the southern wall of the river, and looked like the fish were on. I ended up with half a dozen fish, no huge ones, but a bit of a bonus on the first day of a trip after arriving. I also caught a keeper net full of fish after the blokes alongside me lost theirs. It was full of fish and some real crackers as well. I saw it out of the corner of my eye, bit like the scene in Finding Nemo, only thIs time I caught them in a landing net.
All my fish were caught on green weed, the group next to me caught theirs on cabbage and they seemed to be the better class of fish. The Dolphins were feeding really close in to where I was fishing. It really is beautiful up here and a real balm after the hustle and bustle of Sydney and the busy weekly schedule.
Looking forward to flathead fishing tomorrow.
Matt
